WWII Warfare – Infantry

I was doing some experiment on the infantry units, I trained about 2,200 Anti-Aircraft squads and about 300 Bazooka squads, and below is the result.

Without the support of my infantries and enemy has no ground attacking units:

On the first defense, I got the following ant-aircraft troops:
Tunderbolt (R3) = 130
Corsair (R3) = 129
Lighting (R2) = 15
Pershing (R3) = 150
Anti-aircraft artillery (M) = 10

With that I took down 22 out of 900 TA153 (R3). Now look at what I can do with my infantries

With the support of my infantries and enemy has no ground attacking units:

On the second defense, I got the following ant-aircraft troops
Tunderbolt (R3) = 41
Corsair (R3) = 68
Pershing (R3) = 170
Anti-aircraft artillery (M) = 10
Anti-Aircraft squads (R2) = 2,200
Bazooka squads (R2) = 319

And with that I took down 25 out of (again) 900 TA153 (R3). Now let us look at my last defense

With the support of my infantries and enemy has ground attacking units:

The enemy now has anti-ground units but it did not wipe out my infantries on the first range attack, it only wipe them out on the second range attack. Here is the details

First range attack
· [Attack Force]Junkers Ju 87(R3),
· [Counter Force]M26 Pershing (R3),Anti-Aircraft Squad (R2),
· [Attack Force] DMG To Infantry 25810DMG To Armour 7676DMG To Aircraft 0
· [Counter Force] DMG To Infantry 0DMG To Armour 0DMG To Aircraft 16702
· Casualty of Attacker Ta 152 (R3) 5Ar 234 Blitz (R3) 5Junkers Ju 87(R3) 6
· Casualty of Defender M4 Sherman (R3) 1Kfz. 61 (R2) 30M26 Pershing (R3) 2Anti-air artillery(M) 3Bazooka Squad (R2) 319Anti-Aircraft Squad (R2) 569
See how it only took 569 out of my 2,200 Anti-aircraft squads?

One more point, Handsgrenade used a legendary commander with 100+ strengths, so I am lucky to have some troops left at the end of the day.

Even though it eventually took out all my infantries, it shows one thing, if you want to train infantry then do it in huge number, do it in thousands, at least they will do good damage on the first range attack. Don’t bother about R1, if possible got for R3 but I calculated that R2 and R3 unit is more or less the same when it comes to infantry because of the grain that R3 unit consume. For example, I can train (to max) about 2,500 R3 anti-aircraft squad (if I do not plan to expand my base area) but if I go for R2 unit instead I can train about 5,000 units. The attack and defense points in total are the same.

Also remember this, infantry can’t stand alone because their defense systems are low, they are use to support other units like the tanks and planes. So train them in your second base as a support to your main base.

Well, that’s my finding. I leaned something new from Hansgrenade’s attack and I am going to do some new experiment. Not going to train anymore infantry for now, going for something new. Will let you know how is the experiment turn out.

Online strategy games vs. mmorpg

I used to love playing MMORPG games but it takes up a lot of my working time and not to mention the memory space that it eats when I login and beside I still need to login to my work applications. On top of that it also eats up a lot of my time with my family on weekends. And so I decided to stop playing games at all. But I’m addicted to games and old habits die hard, it doesn’t take long for me to start playing MMORPG games again.

Then I discovered online strategy games, well, since these types of games do not require any downloading (which may take days) I thought I give it a try. I have played a few but none can capture me from sticking to the games for long, as soon as I was under attack and all my armies wipe out, I quit. But then I noticed the hours that I spent on this games is not long, I don’t really need to monitor it all the time, I spent more time on work and with my family on weekends. And so I started to look for one that suits me more. It turns out most of the strategy games are more or less the same and I think to myself why not another try, at least the hour spend is less than MMORPG games.

It has been about 3 months now and I am still playing WWII (I’m not here to promote this game, there is still a lot of bugs in this game and quite a number of players quit because of it, so play on your own risk). I’m starting to prefer strategy games than MMORPG, reason, because unlike MMORPG where you hunt monsters to level up, strategy games has less use of leveling, in fact you can start doing battle with other players as soon as you are out from the newbie protection period. I find battling other players is more fun than hunting monsters (or maybe I am just sick of it already), you got to strategies your move, plan carefully, get information on your opponent and do on researches. You don’t have this in MMORPG, I mean sure you can join alliance and do an alliance war and battle other players (which you can do that in strategy games too) but you hardly do that. In most MMORPG that I used to play require consent from the other player before you can do battle. In strategy games you are constantly doing battle with players all the time, even when you logoff. Now that’s require a lot of strategy, especially when you logoff cause you do not want to find that you have been attack when you next login.

When I attack other players (excluding weaker players) I always have the anxious feeling what will be the outcome and yet I have to wait, sometimes in hours before the results are out (this is due to the journey from one base to another). And this is why I don’t have to monitor the games all the time, it needs time to build bases, it needs time to train armies and it needs time to do combat, while waiting I can just do my work or spend time with my family.

WWII warfare- web-base game

The features of this game are more or less the same with other combat web-base games available online. Basically you can do the following in the game:

1. Built buildings and troops, you require resources to do this.

2. Join alliance, by joining alliance you can enter a “tribe war” where your alliance will be battling with other alliances.

3. Choose your side, either the Axis (which is the German) or the Allies (which is the rest of the world, well, not exactly the rest of the world but the ones that join forces to counter-attack German during the WWII.).

4. Battle with other players online based on real time.

5. Scout your opponents before attacking them.

6. Battles reward.

7. You can do the in-game tasks to improve your commander experience.

I have play this game for at least 1½ months now still I am no expert in this game. My base was recently attacked by one level higher rank player and I thought I can take him down. I was wrong. I lost about 200 high level troops. It is quite hard to make a large army in this game, so 200 is a lot.

Well, the lost taught me a useful lesson in the game (go find out yourself!!) and think I am more prepare this time.

The above (well, I tried my best to provide a better picture, maybe try to click on it, hope it will show a clearer and bigger picture) shows the overall base information. At the bottom it shows the troops activities. As you can see, my troops are returning from attacking other player base. Well, this player has 4 bases and no one know that he has left the game, which give me a big advantage by faming his base…LOL

Right, here is the inside look of the level of buildings that I have. I am currently doing some experiment on the buildings and if I get it right I will be able to save some “land area”, it is a big risk that I am taking. Now, land area is important to build troops and buildings. You need land area to build buildings but the buildings does not take a big area, what take up most of the land area is “Factory”. Leveling factory will provide you the necessary resources that you need. There are 3 type of factories, one that produce steel, one for grain and another for oil. And each type of the factory has 3 different levels. And the numbers of troops you can produce depend on your grain factory, troops need food and if you have more troops than you grain can produce then your troops will start to die from hunger

Here is the inside look at the “technology”. Different types of troops require different type of technology which needs to be researched. Research of technology requires quite an amount of resources. So be careful on what you type of troops that you need and don’t waste resources to research troops that you do not need.

And here are the troops. Well, you can choose to produce infantry, armour or aircraft. And each of the category has its own type of choice. If you ask which is the best, I would say try the combination. Now, each one of the troop has 4 levels, well, the original server which is server 1939 is starting to experiment level 5 troops. In order to increase the level of your troops you need to do more research at the technology center. By the way, once your technology gave you a new level or army you can never produce the lower level army anymore, which you don’t really need it anyway.

Well, like I said I have play this game for more than a month now and I do have my achievement. As you do battle, irregardless whether you win or loss you MAY obtain a gift. The gift is either a chest (which give you additional resources) or a token (see above, the tokens will enhance your commander abilities). Players are still trying to figure out how to achieve these gifts but the way I see it, it is base on the dev points of your opponent. The higher the dev points that you do battle with the higher chance that you will get something good after the battle. But if you bully the weak then you have nothing but experience point for your commander. Oh by the way, commander is like a hero in this game, you need them to send your troops out and the better your commander is (whether with experience from battle or you equipped it with token you gain from battle) higher chances that you will win a war.

My best battle report so far

Well, is quite a cool game and you may get hook on it. But before you start digging into this game, I would like to warn you that this is an open beta game, which means there are lots of bugs in it. There are players who lost quite an amount of real cash and got nothing in return. So you better think twice before you want to use real cash in this game.

Each game has its pros and cons, here are the pros (some which I have mentioned above):

Extra features that other combat web-base games don’t have (well, at least that I am not aware of):

1. You will earn 50 gold upon verification of your email address, and 5 gold everyday (you have to sign in everyday to get your gold). You can exchange the gold for items from the “mall” and of course if you do not have enough gold you can buy it with real cash. The main different is, in most web-base games they have 2 type of in-game money (in this case is “gold”). The 1st type is that you earn from the game and the 2nd type is you exchange with real cash. To purchase item from the mall, you have to use the money that you buy with real cash. This game has only one money, that is “gold” and you get it free everyday!

2. You can only attack or attack by players that is one rank above or below you. The advantage of this is you won’t be attacked by players that have been playing this game for months. Imagine the frustration when you sign-in a new game (a newbie), play for few days and just as you are about to get the hang of it you have been attack by players that have 1,000 more troops then you as soon as you get out from the protection period.

Cons:

1. your opponent can hide their troops and resources, since you can only attack those one level higher or lower your rank, your opponents can hide their troops in a much lower ranks’ base. While this is an advantage for newbie but if all your opponents do the same trick, then you have no one to fight at which makes this game quite boring.

2. you can’t conquer other players’ base.

3. loading is very slow.

4. Tons of bugs that need to be fixed. And the developer is doing it very slow. Lots of top players have left the game because of this.
